Dragon Fighting Tips, Part I

1. Don't. Dragons are big, mean and nasty. They have all manner of breath weapons, attacks, special abilities, and magic up their sleeves, er... scales. Don't fight one if you can avoid it.

2. Don't fight it outdoors if at all possible. Unlike most flying creatures, dragons have powerful ranged attacks (breath, magic, etc.), and can do serious damage to your party without getting in range of your melee attacks. Try to fight them in enclosed spaces where they can't use their superior maneuverability.

Rollin'

When possible, consider rolling dice in batches to speed up gameplay. For example, if you declare three attacks, roll three d20s color-coded to each attack. Also consider rolling damage dice at the same time as your attack roll. Your DM will thank you if you have your damage total ready when he asks for it.
